The Dancing Fool
There was once this guy I knew who was the wildest dancer
I had ever seen. Really. Before I saw him dance for the first time,
I didn't think people
could dance like that. In the back of my mind,
I guess I had thought that there was some law of God,
man or nature that would
interdict it.
Anyway, I was at a party
this one time and I espied him on the dance floor. As I watched him,
I had a moment of cognitive dissonance which I soon realized was
caused by the surprisingly sedate manner in which he "cutting the rug."
There he was, out there, gyrating with only the fury of
a drum major having an epileptic seizure instead of
his customary pace of a dervish being attacked by
fire ants.
I was wondering vaguely about this anomoly
when the music stopped. I saw him and his erstwhile
partner murmuring reciprocating thanks and then I saw him
hop off the dance floor, pick up a pair of crutches and
hobble off.
